Collagen ! I'm particularly excited about such products when I see them cos who doesn't want to stay youthful forever?

Collage is a protein in the connective tissue of all mammals including humans.

The body of a new born baby is rich in collagen, however from the age of 25, the ability to reproduce collagen slows down greatly. After the age of 35, it stops altogether & the aging process starts.

The best source of collagen from animals is from beef / chicken, however a marine collagen is now proving to be better. Egg whites & wheat germ is the only source for vegetarians.

Of all the 16 types, I, II & III are the common collagens found in humans.

Collagen makes up >25% of the proteins in our body & is often referred to as the glue that holds us together. It is the 2nd largest component in our bodies after water.

Type I, II & III collagen account for up to 90% of the collagen in our bodies.

Collagen Type I: For healthy skin, ligaments, bones, teeth & tendons

Collagen Type II: Found in your cartilages & eyes

Collagen Type III: For muscle tone, blood vessels & skin

The 2 main factors I consider for my collagen consumption is how safe is it & whether the taste is acceptable to me. I have not tried collagen in the form of powder before but other forms that I've tried have fishy tastes and rlly sour to the extent that I couldn't finish the whole pack.
